Ah, another exciting vacation day...

... spent at the Animal Hospital.

No, nothing bad, just an abcess on Petey's tail. I swear the Vet is probably starting to think I have Munchausen by Proxy or something by now.

But, he'll be fine. I got a talking to about his obesity, and bought some prescription food so that I can finally really really try to make the two fatties lose weight. Moon Pie has already thrown up several times since trying out the new food, so it looks like it could work. (I'm kidding, people, close your e-mail clients.) (Ha, like I get hate mail... )

A N Y W A Y...

Looking forward to my friend's b-day party tomorrow. She's turning 40 and doing it up right by... having a Rollerskating party! YaY!

And, enjoying my new favorite website a little too much.

Other than that, and freaking out about our upcoming trip to Hawaii that I haven't even thought about past "what knitting shall I bring?", things are quiet. I'm very close to knitting again. I've just been really enjoying watching movies and eating popcorn in the evenings (and catching up on blogs) instead. But soon I shall have something to show.

Extra Noise! Loud Screaming!

Very Early this morning (2:30 a.m.) someone left all the people on our street a mean little Christmas present.

Someone set off fireworks in the middle of the street. It lasted for about 5 minutes, and was super loud.

After talking to a couple of neighbors, most just woke up and said "what is that? sounds like fireworks? huh?"

I, however, leaped out of bed flailing and saying "they're shooting at us!" and then freaked out until Sean's calm words ("It's just fireworks honey, calm down") finally got through to me and I woke up. Then we went outside and watched the show.

This type of firework is surely illegal in California. They were indeed extra loud and they went waaaay higher than the rooftops.

We think we know who did it. I only hope they don't repeat it tonight because it was really hard to get back to sleep after that.

Getting out of Grinch mode

This morning, Shmacky didnít show up first thing in the morning like he usually does. Heís the cat thatís outside the most, but you can count on him to show up at the door, or pop in the pet door as soon as someoneís up to give him breakfast.

We called and called for him, whistled his special ďcome hereĒ tune. Nothing. Sean walked up and down the street looking for him as I made coffee and started mentally preparing myself for another tragic holiday.

Then we got the bright idea to look inside the house:

Today we took the dogs on a walk by the river, and I got to see ďRoofusĒ for the first time. Roofus is what Sean calls him. We donít know his real name. Roofus lives in a house that borders the levee, and when people walk by he climbs on the roof (hence the name). Heís a big brown mutt. Today, he was wearing a Santa suit! I so wished I had brought my camera. His neighbors saw us standing there looking and talking to him and we called out ďwhatís his real name?Ē to them. They said ďSanta!Ē hhahahahahha

Iím just now starting to relax from a very stressful week at work. Every minute of every hour of every day of it was filled to the brim and even then I didnít finish. Itís been awful. I havenít had time to show you a picture of the beautiful Koigu I won and received last week, or the beautiful yarn I got from the talented and lovely Spaaz, and the beautiful yarn I ordered online, that is nowhere near the color I was expecting and so now must be used for something other than what it was intended.

Anyway, I have next week off (except that I have a whole lot of work to do from home) and Iím about to watch Itís a Wonderful Life and relax into Christmas.

Hope youíre having a good one too!

Back online!

I've not been online for such a long time! Work has entirely taken over my brain. I worked late every night last week. I'm exhausted.

I've also not been knitting. It's awful. I have so many things I want to do and they all compete with each other. This evening, the winner was "sit on the couch with the laptop and catch up on e-mail and surfing." Also, the plan was to buy some Christmas presents online, but that has not happened because my mind immediatly went blank as soon as I started surfing. Ah well.

But! The BIG NEWS is that I won a contest! I donated to Jessica's Earthquake relief effort, and won a Charlotte's Web kit! Five skeins of Koigu! Woo Hooo! Now there's something that might just get me back in the game.

Today I spent doing nothing but errands. Grets and I visited the Vet for his last post-op checkup. He's doing great.

I am just now starting to freak out about Christmas. So, off I go!

Sean has a way of attracting needy animals:

Read all about him here.

And I wanted to show you how good Gretsky looks! Da Boy with a crooked smile:
Gretsky feels just fine, thank you. He's loving his new couch privledges.

My new favorite yarn, Colinette Prisim. So expensive I can only make a scarf. A very short scarf:

Take a closer look!
Ooooo, pretty.

And last, but certainly not least, we made a wind chime as a wedding present for a couple of friends. I think it came out really nice:

Completely handmade, glazed and fired by both Sean and I.

It's 5:39 on a Friday night. I'm still here at work, printing out copies of a presentation on a very slow printer. I finally realized I could print from another computer (since, everyone else has already left for the day, 'natch) and use mine to do some personal business, namely, post on this here site.

I've been very busy at work lately, so that's why the posts have been few and far between. I can't even keep up with reading any blogs like I used too. I read a few and that is all I can manage. Next week we are having all day meetings , plus moving our office to another building. It's going to be super busy. The week after, we install a completely new computer system, new server, new computers and everything. I'm in charge of that too, so don't expect to hear much from me for the next couple of weeks! But, I am still here!
