I'b sidk

Oy by nose. I'b so plugged up, by nose feels like a big fig.

My eye appointment went well, and I really liked the optometrist. She looked like she was about 12 years old, but she really knew her stuff and was good at listening and explaining things. I have a problem with my eyes that I've tried to communicate to two other eye doctors, and it's been dismissed each time. One doctor actually said "sounds like a personal problem." The Nerve!

Anyway, she suggested a really weak prisim in my glasses. I'd never heard of such a thing, but it seems like it will work. If not, I have 30 days to return the glasses if I get them there. I'm just not sure I can find frames I like there. I'm a hard face to fit. I looked around a bit, but my eyes were dialated and I couldn't see well enough to make a decision. Plus I was really starting to feel bad. By the time I got home Wednesday night there was no denying I had caught a cold.

Knitting wise, I just ripped out about 1 inch ont he Lace and Cables sleeves. The hardest thing for me in knitting, is increasing in a pattern, and I messed it up. The past two nights I just haven't had the energy to knit. Maybe tonight.

Aw geez, another entry without pictures!

I am told by AAA that a check is in the mail to me. See, after the car accident, I went to the doctor just to get checked out and to tell them how my arms and hands went numb when it happened. I just wanted to make sure everything was fine, and it was.

I submitted the bill to my auto insurance to pay, since I don't have any medical insurance. All I wanted was for them to pay the doctor's bill. But then they kept calling me to discuss a "settlement" for my "injury" and even thought I tried to tell them I wasn't injured, they insisted on sending me a check. So, OK, fine. Send me the money.

It's not much, but it will be enought to go get my eyes checked and get new glasses and contact lenses. My eyes bother me a lot and I think maybe I could try a new kind of contact lens that would be more comfortable. My appointment is tomorrow. I hope it all goes ok. I haven't had my eyes examined in about three years. I'm going to a big chain this time just for convenience sake, and because I never did like my old opthomologist. It's time for a change.

Other than that, absolutely nothing is happening. Walk, work, workout, home, dinner, knitting. That's my day today.

I'm back in the saddle again

To help me get back to knitting, I decided to just do something yarn related, but not actually knitting. I unraveled a sweater that I bought at the Salvation Army a few months ago. It's a nice multicolor-flecked dark green, 100% wool, that I think I'm going to use to make those Fiber Trends felted slipper clogs. I'll take a picture of the yarn after I wash it. Unraveling that sweater has been on my list of things to do for awhile now, so it felt good to get it done.

Also, I managed to pick up the ol' needles again on the Lace and Cables sweater. It wasn't has hard as I thought it would be to figure out where I was in the pattern.

The only trouble I had was with a stupid fly that was in the room, buzzing around the lamp by my side. The fly was annoying the heck out of me, and then it dive-bombed me, and nearly flew into my ear. It made me scream in surprise, flinch, and accidentally pull my needles out of my knitting. Ooooo I hate when that happens.

So THAT took awhile to fix, what with all the yarn overs and such. But fix it I did, and now I'm on my way. I'm going to finish this sweater, then work on the baby blanket. That's my plan now, but, it's subject to change.

Thanks for your support!

Thanks everybody, for the great comments!

In her defense, the clerk was about 12 years old, and she didn't say it in a rude way, but in a clueless way. I laughed it off, and she said "we have to ask everybody." Sure you do.

Gina, I feel the same way as you some times though. My biggest peeve is when you walk up to a counter and the person standing there does not say anything to you. No "can I help you?" Not even a hello. Then just stand there, cow-like, looking at you. Sometimes I will just stand there too untill they say something. Depends on if I have the time.

And twice, TWICE this has happened to me: I'm standing in a queue and there is a a row of cashiers at a counter (once it was at a bookstore, once checking in at an airline counter) and the checker becomes free and says "next in line!" I walk up to the counter and stand in front of them and they look right through me as if I'm not there and say "NEXT IN LINE, PLEASE!" This has led me to believe that I am sometimes invisible.

Well, another evening has gone by with no knitting. I'm really going to have to snap out of it soon.

Just shoot me now

At lunch today I decided to try out a new car wash place in town. My car is covered in some sort of tree sap and I was afraid it would begin to damage the paint. And, I hate to wash my car myself, I really do.

But that's just background.

When I went inside to pay, the woman at the register asked me the worst question I've ever been asked.

"Are you 55 or older?"

All the news that's boring to post

You know you are filled with knitting ennui when you find the cat in your knitting bag with your current project and the first thing you think to do is run for the camera.

This baby blanket...I just can't stand to knit it anymore. I'm 2/3rds done, I wish I could just make myself work on it, but I'm too nice. I never make me do anything.

I could knit on a pretty silk scarf I started a looooong time ago. But, eh. Don't wanna.

Last night I picked up my lace and cable sweater, thinking I could finish the sleeves. I could not figure out where I was in the pattern. Ouch. I need to work it out though, because I really really want to finish this sweater. I don't want to start anything new until I finish this and I'm so close. Maybe tonight. Maybe.

I knitted these little guys for a friend who has a small collection of footwear related earings. (Ok, I know she has two other sets...that's a small collection, right?)

I really tried to make them identical. Well, as much as I really try to do anything. Which is to say I half-assedly tried. See how they both have orange at the top? But I do like their fraternal quality, and I thought my friend would too. I was right.

Now, just because I remembered to bring in my camera battery today, it's no reason to not continue the Kalvacade of Krazy Kats, especially since there's only one to go. I can't leave out Petey! But, because I have no current pictures of him that I haven't already shown, I'm going to recycle one.

Not quite as Krazy as the other cats, Petey knows how to live large, with his golden marmot belly, on his cashmere sweater. Just, please, DO NOT RUN THE VACUUM CLEANER! Or re-arrange the furniture, or put strange objects on the floor. But please, leave your hairbands on the counter so he can put them in the water bowl. Thank you.

Once again my brain fails me

And you. You came here to see knitting, but all I have to show you are my krazy kitties.

That's right, forgot the camera battery again.

So here's a picture of Axl (aka Schmacky), doing what we call "The Little Matchgirl."

And here's a closeup

This is right outside our front door. He is mere steps and a meow away from fresh hot binkie and the comfortable couch, but no, don't mind him. He'll just curl up on the pokey bark and try to get as comfortable as he can. No, really, it's ok, don't worry about him. He'll be fine.

I remembered my camera!

But, when I got to work and plugged it in I discovered it had no battery. Rasser Frasser!

So I'll have to make due with another picture from the hard disk.

I call this surreal image "Mrs. Moonpie."

Tomorrow! Knitting! For Sure!

I can't believe they haven't kicked me out of the kntbloggers ring yet. I don't know what it is, but I just haven't felt the love for this blog lately.

I just have nothing to talk about. Well, actually, that's not true. I finished a tiny little project this weekend, a present for a friend. I took pictures and everything, but left the camera at home this morning. I hate when I do that.

So, I'll have to remember tomorrow so I can post a knitting related picture.

Until then, here's a pic that I had just laying around on my hard drive.

Our elder cat, Banjo (aka Mr. Fussy) has water issues. He insists on either drinking from a running tap, or getting water dripped in his face thusly:

Believe me, he begs for this anytime we happen to be standing at the sink.

I've tried everything to get him to drink out of a bowl. I've put it in a glass, in porcelain dishes, in goblets, and last weekend I even bought one of those cat drinking fountains. The fountain works, if you stand there with him and pet him as he's drinking. Even then, he will still hound you for water at the faucet. And yet, I've seen him drink water out of a mud puddle. Freak.

And now a question for those who are MovableType experts. If I create another blog, will it overwrite this one? I was thinking that I could make a new blog just for finished projects, but ... I'm afraid to test it out. Anybody?
